Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday labeled as “historic” and “unprecedented” the coming together of more than 180 countries on India’s call on the 9th International Yoga Day.
PM Modi, who began his State visit to the United States on Tuesday, will lead the Yoga Day celebrations at the United Nations Headquarters lawns in New York at around 5.30 PM India time later today.
In a video message on Wednesday morning, Prime Minister Modi said that the ‘Ocean Ring of Yoga’ has made the Yoga Day events even more special as the idea is based on the inter-relationship between the idea of yoga and the expanse of the ocean.
This year the theme of Yoga Day is ‘Yoga For Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ or Yoga for the welfare of all in the form of ‘One World-One Family’ which is also the theme of India’s ongoing G-20 presidency.
“Be it India’s culture or social structure, India’s spirituality or ideals, India’s philosophy or vision, we have always nurtured traditions that unite, adopt and embrace. We have welcomed new ideas, patronized them. We have enriched diversities, celebrated them. Yoga makes every such feeling stronger and stronger,” said PM Modi in his message.
