With decline in Covid-19 cases, US issues fresh travel advisory for India

<strong>With Covid-19 positive cases decreasing in most parts of India, the United States on Monday updated its travel advisory for the country with its Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Department of State issuing a Level 3 Travel Health Notice and a Level 3 Travel Advisory, respectively.<br />
</strong><br />
As the cases had risen sharply throughout India to record levels in the months of April and May, the US had issued a Level 4 Travel Health Notice and Travel Advisory – the highest advisory level due to greater likelihood of life-threatening risks – advising against all travel to India.<br />

The new advisory issued yesterday strongly urges the US citizens who must travel to India to get fully vaccinated before travel and continue to take personal health safety measures to protect themselves, including practicing social or physical distancing, cleaning hands with soap/hand sanitizer, wearing masks, and avoiding crowded areas with poor ventilation.<br />

"Your risk of contracting Covid-19 and developing severe symptoms may be lower if you are fully vaccinated with an FDA authorized vaccine. Before planning any international travel, please review the CDC's specific recommendations for vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers," states the <a href="http:// https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/International-Travel-Country-Information-Pages/India.html#/">Level 3 advisory</a>.<br />
<br />
The US embassy and consulates also continue to monitor Covid-19 conditions in India.  While the case numbers drop, they continue to advise travellers about avoiding some local hotspots.</p>

They also advise the US citizens to continue to obey measures introduced by Indian officials designed to mitigate Covid-19 outbreaks in their areas.<br />
