Watch: Syria and Turkey thank India as Indian humanitarian aid reaches earthquake-hit region

Both Turkey and Syria have thanked India for its rapid response and for standing by its citizens in their ordeal post-Monday’s devastating earthquake that hit the two countries resulting in thousands of victims.

Syrian Ambassador in New Delhi, Bassam al-Khatteeb, thanked the Indian government as well as the Indian people, as New Delhi dispatched urgent humanitarian aid to the earthquake-hit region.

Last night, an IAF flight carrying six tonnes of Emergency Relief Assistance took off for Syria. The consignment consisted of life-saving medicines and emergency medical items.

India said that it stands in solidarity with those most affected by this tragedy.

Meanwhile, another two Indian Air Force aircraft carrying an Indian Army field hospital for a 30-bedded medical facility have now reached Adana in Turkey.

The 89-member team of medical specialists from the Indian Army is equipped with x-ray machines, ventilators, oxygen generation plants, cardiac monitors and associated equipment, to establish the medical facility.

The team has already begun to contribute to the relief efforts underway.
