Watch: Spirited Maryam Nawaz spearheads attack against Imran Khan in Pak political rallies

Maryam Nawaz, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice-President and Chief Organiser has taken on the mantle to battle the indefatigable Imran Khan.

Since her return from London, where her father – former prime minister Nawaz Sharif lives, she has been jousting non-stop against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan. That has signalled to the masses that Maryam is the next leader for Pakistan.

So, how is Maryam taking on Imran Khan?

She has put the blame for the nation’s deep economic malaise on the PTI leader. In her rally in Multan, Punjab, she blamed the PTI leader for inflation and highlighted how under Nawaz Sharif’s rule the country had prospered.

Hitting out at Imran Khan, she said that even the former army chief general Qamar Javed Bajwa has admitted that the establishment made a mistake by supporting him. Maryam said: “Bajwa sahab following his retirement admitted that he made a blunder like Imran Khan. It was the biggest blunder in the 75-year history of the country. This blunder wreaked havoc across the country,”

Lampooning the cricketer-turned politician, she said that Imran Khan’s party had been running a movement to fill up their pockets, “Jeb Bharo Tehreek” and challenged him over his Jail Bharo Tehreek movement.

Besides the attacks on Imran Khan, Maryam has also been reassuring the masses that her party feels the pain of the people who are suffering from economic hardships, promising them that the PML-N will pull the country out of the economic mess.

In her public rallies, as the provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa go to polls, the PML-N leader has been reiterating that her father Nawaz Sharif will soon be back to Pakistan – in a bid to invoke her father’s political legacy and simultaneously comfort the masses.
