India continued to support the people of Turkey in their hour of need after the massive earthquake by dispatching another Indian Air Force (IAF) C-17 plane with more rescue-medical teams along with humanitarian aid on Tuesday.
The assistance includes National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) search and rescue teams, specially-trained dog squads, medical supplies, drilling machines, vehicles and other necessary equipment.
Meanwhile, the first IAF C17 flight which left earlier today with more than 50 NDRF HQ Search and Rescue personnel and similar relief material has reached the earthquake-stricken south-central Turkish city of Adana.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan visited Embassy of Syria in New Delhi and extended condolences to Ambassador Bassam Al-Khatib for the devastation caused by the earthquake yesterday.
The minister also conveyed PM Narendra Modi’s message of sympathy and commitment to providing expeditious assistance and support.
Acting swiftly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s instructions to offer all possible assistance, India has now dispatched two batches of earthquake relief material for Turkey, showcasing its Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) capabilities in action.
As reported by IndiaNarrative.com on Monday, immediately after PM Modi’s instructions to offer all possible assistance to cope with the earthquake in Turkey, P K Mishra, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, held a meeting in South Block to discuss immediate relief measures. It was decided that the Search and Rescue Teams of NDRF and medical teams along with relief material would be dispatched immediately in coordination with the government of Turkey.
Two teams of NDRF comprising 100 personnel with specially trained dog squads and necessary equipment were made ready to be flown to the earthquake-hit area for search and rescue operations. Medical Teams were also readied with trained doctors and paramedics with essential medicines. Relief material is being dispatched in coordination with the Turkish government and Indian Embassy in Ankara and Consulate General office in Istanbul.
