Watch: Nawaz Sharif arrives in Lahore from London via Dubai after four years in exile

Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo, Nawaz Sharif Saturday returned to Pakistan via chartered plane named “Umeed-e-Pakistan” (hope of Pakistan) after four years of self-imposed exile in London.

The PML-N chief is now in Lahore, where he will address a public rally. The rally is being staged at the Greater Iqbal Park or Minar-e-Pakistan, where the former PM will declare a roadmap of action.

Earlier Nawaz Sharif halted in Islamabad and consulted his legal team. Sharif, a three-times prime minister was ousted in 2017. He was awarded a lifetime disqualification from politics after being convicted for not declaring details about his salary.

After serving less than a year of a seven-year sentence, he was permitted to seek medical care in the United Kingdom. He ignored subsequent court orders to return during former prime minister Imran Khan’s tenure.

Busloads of people are travelling to Lahore to listen to Nawaz Sharif’s much anticipated address after the former Prime Minister’s return to home soil.
