As External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar begins his official visit to the northernmost atolls of Maldives today, Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid posted some interesting videos from sea early Monday as he left home to receive his counterpart.
Shahid posted the videos after leaving Dhidhdhoo, the capital of Haa Alif Atoll in the Maldives, this morning.
“Leaving HA Dhidhdhoo to N. Maafaru to receive External Affairs Minister of India @DrSJaishankar
on his fourth official visit to Maldives,” the Maldivian Foreign Minister wrote along with the videos showing sunrise on the sea.
During the visit, official talks would be held between both ministers to review the progress on bilateral cooperation, following which several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) will be exchanged. Jaishankar will also call on the Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
The EAM will also participate in the groundbreaking ceremony of the Hanimaadhoo International Airport Development Project to be undertaken through the Line of Credit arranged by the Government of India and inaugurate the Shaviyani Foakaidhoo Community Centre developed under Indian grant assistance.
Jaishankar’s last visit to the Maldives was in March 2022 to Addu City. This will be his fourth visit to the Maldives, since assuming office in May 2019.
