US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan calls on PM Modi ahead of his visit to Washington

Preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s US visit are in full swing with top officials of the Biden administration visiting New Delhi to work out the details of the state visit.

On Tuesday, US National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the meeting he briefed Prime Minister on the progress in various sectors of bilateral cooperation. He conveyed that the US President Joe Biden looked forward to welcoming Prime Minister on the State Visit.

PM Modi expressed satisfaction at the growing and deepening Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership between New Delhi and Washington.

Prime Minister said that he looked forward to a productive visit and an engaging conversation with President Biden on bilateral, regional and global issues.

Earlier, Sullivan was hosted by his counterpart Ajit Doval. In the detailed discussions that followed covered the entire gamut of the rapidly developing Indo-US relationship, laying the foundation for PM Modi’s high-level dialogue during his US visit.

Following the launch of the India-US Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET) by Prime Minister Modi and President Biden on the side lines of the QUAD Summit in Tokyo last month, the two NSAs have also driven a concerted effort between the two countries to engage on the identified areas of collaboration, including Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Semiconductors, Telecommunications, Defence and Space. Sullivan’s current visit has thus provided the two NSAs an opportunity to review the progress thus far and set new priorities and objectives for iCET.

The two NSAs also attended the second Track 1.5 dialogue on iCET organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry.

The first edition of this dialogue had been organised by the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington, on January 30 this year. The NSAs addressed the participants at the dialogue, which included leading representatives of academia and industry from both the countries.

They expressed satisfaction at the progress made under iCET and encouraged stakeholders on both sides to strive for technology value chain partnerships that would lead to co-development and co-production of high technology products and services in both countries.
