Triumph of evil: How pro-China Left-liberals make it happen

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil,” the great political philosopher and parliamentarian Edmund Burke said, “is for good men to do nothing.” But good and educated people can do even worse, and they do it very often: refuse to accept the presence of evil, just equating it with the normal. This is what many Left-liberals are doing while discussing the present India-China tensions. They just refuse to accept the fact that Xi Jinping’s China is the embodiment of evil.

It is the world’s most powerful rogue nation involved in every possible sin—from brutal suppression of its religious and ethnic minorities to protecting terrorists to aggression against its neighbors to organ harvesting. Refusal to accept this reality leads to moral equivalence. As we explained in another article (<a href="https://indianarrative.com/opinion/left-liberals-are-washing-away-the-sins-of-china-who-1486.html">https://indianarrative.com/opinion/left-liberals-are-washing-away-the-sins-of-china-who-1486.html</a>), moral equivalence is the position that all actions have the same or similar moral value. So, jumping a light and murdering a person are similar actions because both are legal offences.

We quoted an example by Conserapedia.com: “if two schoolchildren are scuffling and hitting each other in the playground, a judgment of ‘moral equivalence’ by the teacher may result in separating the two and (perhaps) punishing them both equally (for ‘fighting’).”

That would be okay if both were naughty, undisciplined boys. “The problem with moral equivalence as an ethical doctrine is that it completely sidesteps the crucial issue of right and wrong; see good and evil,” the website says. “If one of the children in our example was a notorious school bully, and the other child was fighting back in self-defense, then it would clearly be wrong to punish them both equally.”

Left-liberals keep indulging in moral equivalence all the time. The most conspicuous example is equating Hindu terror with Muslim terror. While a single case of the former is yet to be proved in a court of law, the latter is a huge threat to mankind, responsible for the death tens of thousands, if not lakhs, of men, women, and children all over the world, from Bali to Boston. Even if all those accused of Hindu terror are convicted and we also include the killings carried out by saffron cowboys under the rubric of Hindu terror, its incidence and prevalence would be minuscule as compared to Muslim terror.

There is new moral equivalence promoted by the mainstream media—between India and China. So, explaining the India-China conflict, The Guardian, the Left-leaning British newspaper, wrote, “Both countries have sought to establish their claims to territory, by heavily militarizing the region. Both have built roads, airstrips, outpost stations, and other infrastructure, such as telephone lines. Troops conduct regular patrols along the disputed border. China claims more than 90,000sq km in the eastern Himalayas and another 38,000sq km in the west, both of which are disputed by India” (<a href="https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jun/17/explainer-what-is-the-deadly-india-china-border-dispute-about">https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jun/17/explainer-what-is-the-deadly-india-china-border-dispute-about</a>).

Notice “both countries,” as if both India and China are on the same moral footing. India is the world’s largest democracy; China, the world’s most ruthless dictatorship. India is no threat to any of its neighbors; China is to all, including those in Italy and the US. This is the reason that Indians are hated nowhere in the world, whereas the Chinese are detested everywhere, even in the countries in which they have invested heavily.

The pinkish paper goes on to say that “both” have built roads, airstrips, outpost stations, and other infrastructure, such as telephone lines in the border area, but doesn’t mention that it was started by the Chinese. It was in response to that that India spruced up its infrastructure in the area.

Also, as we mentioned recently (<a href="https://indianarrative.com/world/dragon-wants-to-keep-borders-nebulous-to-facilitate-aggression-3307.html">https://indianarrative.com/world/dragon-wants-to-keep-borders-nebulous-to-facilitate-aggression-3307.html</a>), “the Chinese want to keep the borders with India nebulous because this gives them an opportunity to execute their expansionist designs at the place and time of their choosing.”

Moral equivalence leads to the destruction of the moral compass. This has happened to Leftists in general; with their minds perverted with postmodern theories, morals have been cast aside as burdensome vestiges of the past that are not needed. In fact, history is not needed, as evident from the rage of Black Lives Matter, a radical Left movement.
