People from not just India but all over the world flooded social media with condolence messages after the passing away of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar on Sunday.
Top leaders and personalities from neighbouring countries, including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan along with those from several European nations and even the Caribbean shared their shock and grief after learning about the death of the singer, also known as the 'Nightingale of India'.
Calling her the "empress of music", Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that Lata Mangeshkar's demise has created a "great void in the subcontinent's musical arena".
"A great void has been created in the subcontinent's musical arena with the demise of the 'Sur Samraggi (empress of music)'," said Hasina in her condolence message.

Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said that the legend's memory will remain for centuries through her melodious voice.
"Rest In Peace Srimathi #LataMangeshkar, India's Queen of Music who touched billions of hearts through her golden and unparalleled voice," the leader tweeted.
Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Lankan PM also tweeted his deepest condolences.
"Rest In Peace Nightingale of #India, #LataMangeshkar. Thank you for the decades of entertainment that transcended borders & gave life to the phrase music is a universal language", he wrote.

Nepal PM Sher Bahadur Deuba and President Bidya Devi Bhandari also extended their condolences over the demise of veteran singer.
"I am saddened by the news of the demise of the famous Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar, who has decorated many Nepali songs with her melodious voice," tweeted Bhandari.

Several leaders and cricketers from Pakistan also joined in paying their respect to the late singer.
"A legend is no more, #LataMangeshkar was a melodious queen who ruled the world of music for decades she was uncrowned queen of music her voice shall keep ruling the Hearts of people for all times to come #RIPLataMangeshker," tweeted Fawad Hussain, the Pakistani Minister for information and Broadcasting.
Former player, commentator and current chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Ramiz Raja called Lata Mangeshkar "the epitome of grace" in his message.
"Lata Mangeshkar was the epitome of grace, humility and simplicity and therefore greatness.. a lesson for all. Kishore Kumar and now her death has left me music broken!" he tweeted.

Babar Azam, skipper of the country's cricket team, also paid his tribute to the iconic singer.
"End of a golden era. Her magical voice and legacy will continue to live in the hearts of millions worldwide. An unparalleled icon! RIP Smt. Lata Mangeshkar Ji," Azam tweeted.

Former West Indies and Trinidad and Tobago player Daren Ganga too offered his condolences.

Several heads of foreign missions in India also took to Twitter to express their sadness at the death of the 92-year-old legend.
"Deeply saddened by the demise of Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar. An institution in herself, she was conferred Officier de la Legion d’Honneur’ in recognition of her incomparable singing career. Our heartfelt condolences to her loved ones and fans across the world," said Emmanuel Lenain, the Ambassador of France to India.
