Tibetan diaspora contributes Rs 5 crore to PM CARES fund to fight Covid-19

<strong>The Tibetan diaspora, spready across the globe has pooled Rs 5 core to the PM CARES fund to fight the ongoing second wave of Covid pandemic in India. These contributions made by Tibetans from all over the world tapped the diaspora spread across India-based settlement offices, similar offices in Tibet and 13 other countries. The entire exercise </strong><strong>organised by the Central Tibetan Administration </strong><strong>was completed in a short span of two weeks.</strong></p>

Lauding the generous contributions of the diaspora community, outgoing President of the Central Tibetan Administration Dr Lobsang Sangay said that Tibetans across North America, Europe, Australasia, Taiwan, India, Nepal and Bhutan contributed to the drive.</p>

The contribution, he said, is a token of the Tibetan people’s deep gratitude to the government and people of India who have provided a safe haven for Tibetan refugees for the last over six decades and most importantly hosted the Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama and the exile Tibetan Administration.</p>

In his recent online address on the occasion of ‘International Nurses Day, Sangay lauded the hard work of the frontline workers led by healthcare staff for their role in fighting Covid-19.</p>
<p>
He also announced a Rs. 5000 honorarium for healthcare workers, in tune with the CTA's plan to raise staff salaries.</p>
