India's foreign secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina

<strong>India&rsquo;s foreign secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, who called on Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina discussed a wide ranging issues concerning both the countries amid wide speculations that New Delhi would invited Hasina to be chief guest for the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations.</strong></p>
<p>
During his meeting with Hasina, Shringla also noted that talks between Border Security Force and Border Guard Bangladesh will help in resolving the issues on the border.&nbsp; According to news agency UNI, Hasina has agreed with Shringla.</p>
<p>
Hasina also told Shringla that India and Bangladesh will benefit from hydropower generation in Nepal and Bhutan.</p>

&ldquo;Foreign Secretary @harshvshringla called on PM Sheikh Hasina and conveyed greetings of PM @narendramodi on the 50th anniversary of #MaitriDiwas. Noted the successful joint celebration of #MaitriDiwas in 16 countries in addition to Delhi and Dhaka, the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh said in a tweet.</p>

Shringla during his two day visit to Dhaka also met Bangladesh&rsquo;s Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Minister for Road Transport and Bridges and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and his Bangladeshi counterpart Ambassador Masud Bin Momen.</p>
<p>
Both countries are now chalking out measures to boost connectivity and enhance trade.</p>
<p>
President Ram Nath Kovind&rsquo;s visit to Dhaka next week will also cement bilateral relations between the two neighbours.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

Earlier Bangladesh war veteran Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury told India Narrative that untoward incidents on the border hurt the poorest of the poor.</p>
<p>
&ldquo;There are areas of concerns which are related to border killings and these need to be resolved..these incidents only boost people with vested interest,&rdquo; Choudhury said.&nbsp;</p>
