Russia prepares for refugee influx, terror infiltration in yet another exercise with Central Asian allies

Russia is preparing for massive refugee influx and terror infiltration in yet another military exercise with Central Asian allies, most of whom share borders with restive Afghanistan.

The six member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) will participate in a joint exercise 'Indestructible Brotherhood 2021' of the Collective Peacekeeping Forces which starts in the Russian city of Kazan from today.

The joint exercise will be held from November 8 to 12 at the training ground of the Kazan Higher Tank Command School under the general leadership of the commander of Russia's Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin.

It will be attended by the military contingents of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. The military police units of the participating countries, operational groups of the Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat, formations of internal affairs bodies (police), national guards, as well as authorised bodies in the field of preventing and eliminating the consequences of emergencies are also planned to participate in the exercises.

"In the course of practical actions, the peacekeeping forces will practice actions at a checkpoint, tasks in a refugee camp, escorting convoys with humanitarian supplies, blocking a settlement, storming a building occupied by 'militants', as well as releasing 'hostages' and providing assistance to victims," said the Russian defence ministry.

Representatives of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, Serbia, Uzbekistan and Mongolia, as well as the International Committee of the Red Cross and other international organisations have also been invited for the final stage of the exercises.

The military equipment of Belarus – consisting of BTR-82 armoured personnel carriers, Tiger armoured vehicles, MAZ military vehicles and other equipment – was delivered to Kazan by rail. The rest of the military contingents will be given Russian military equipment for the duration of the exercise.
