A rare pink diamond mined in Angola which may be the largest in the last 300 years, according to Australian mining firm Lucapa Diamond Co.</p>

The 170-carat stone from the Lulo alluvial mine has been named the &ldquo;Lulo Rose,&rdquo; the company and its partners said in an exchange filing on Wednesday.</p>
<p>
The Angolan government, which is also a partner in the mine, welcomed the find.</p>
<p>
&quot;This spectacular pink diamond recovered from Lulo continues to showcase Angola as an important player on the world stage,&quot; Angola&#39;s Mineral Resources Minister Diamantino Azevedo said.</p>
<p>
It will be sold through an international tender conducted by Angolan state-owned diamond trading firm Sodiam.</p>
<p>
Coloured diamonds are rarer than colourless ones and have fetched record-breaking prices. The De Beers&rsquo; Cullinan blue diamond, for instance, was auctioned for about $57.5 million at Sotheby&rsquo;s in Hong Kong in April.</p>
