Putin to Macron, world leaders queue up to congratulate India on Independence Day

World leaders on Tuesday praised India’s rise as a global power under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra on the occasion of 77th Independence Day of the country.

Congratulating President Droupadi Murmu and PM Modi on Independence Day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the successes India has achieved in the economic, scientific, technical, social and other fields are recognised all over the world.

“India enjoys well-deserved prestige on the world stage and plays an important constructive role in international affairs. We attach great importance to the especially privileged strategic partnership with New Delhi,” stated Putin.

“I am confident that through joint efforts we will continue to build up fruitful bilateral cooperation in all areas, as well as constructive partnership in addressing topical issues on the regional and global agenda. This undoubtedly meets the fundamental interests of our friendly peoples and goes in the direction of strengthening security and stability on the planet,” he added.

French President Emmanuel Macron, who called India “a giant in world history with a decisive role to play in the future” during PM Modi’s visit to Paris last month, also spotlighted the country’s rise as a dominant force in the region.

“Congratulations to the Indian people on your Independence Day! A month ago in Paris, my friend Narendra Modi and I set new Indo-French ambitions all the way to 2047, the centenary year of India’s Independence. India can count on France as a trusted friend and partner, always,” tweeted Macron.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 14 attended the annual Bastille Day Parade in Paris as a ‘Guest of Honour’, a day after he was conferred with the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour, France’s highest award.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai tweeted in English and Hindi to extend congratulations to the leadership and people of a “great” nation.

Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Nepal PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Bhutan Prime Minister Lotay Tshering, Mauritius PM Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and several other leaders from the region and beyond also conveyed their wishes to President Murmu and PM Modi on Independence Day.

“As India continues to fulfill new dreams and attain greater heights within and beyond the country, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we wish you a smooth sail free of all obstacles,” tweeted Tshering.

In their messages, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Isaac Herzog and Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana mentioned about the strong bond between the two countries.

“May our nations continue to grow closer and prosper together,” wrote Netanyahu as Israeli diplomats in New Delhi tried their hand at the timeless Indian tradition of kite flying while embracing the spirit of India’s Independence Day.

As reported by IndiaNarrative.com earlier, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who is due to visit New Delhi for the G20 Leaders’ Summit next month, also extended Independence Day greetings to India.

“All Australians applaud India’s successes, and the many achievements that define this great country and its people,” said Albanese.
