<strong>Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be attending the 14th BRICS Summit hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping in a virtual format on June 23-24.</strong></p>

Along with Presidents of Russia (Vladimir Putin), South Africa (Cyril Ramaphosa) and Brazil (Jair Bolsonaro), PM Modi will also participate in a high-level dialogue on global development on June 24. The theme of the dialogue is &#39;Foster a Global Development Partnership for the New Era to Jointly Implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development&#39;.<br />

Prior to the Summit, PM Modi will deliver his recorded keynote speech in the opening ceremony of the BRICS Business Forum on Wednesday.<br />
<br />
BRICS has become a platform for discussing and deliberating on issues of common concern for all developing countries. BRICS countries have regularly called for reform of the multilateral system in order to make it more representative and inclusive.<br />
<br />
&quot;Discussions during the 14th BRICS Summit are expected to cover intra-BRICS cooperation in areas such as counter-terrorism, trade, health, traditional medicine, environment, S&amp;T and innovation, agriculture, technical and vocational education &amp; training, and MSMEs,&quot; the External Affairs Ministry said in a statement today.<br />
<br />
Discussions are also likely on issues like reform of the multilateral system, combating Covid-19 pandemic and global economic recovery, amongst others.<br />
<br />
Last week, Beijing had stated that it is ready to work with other BRICS members and emerging markets and developing countries to deepen the BRICS partnership under the theme of &#39;Foster High-quality BRICS Partnership, Usher in a New Era for Global Development&#39;.<br />
<br />
Other than BRICS leaders, the meeting will also be attended by&ensp;leaders&ensp;of emerging markets and developing countries.</p>
