Soon after the perfect soft touchdown of the lunar lander Vikram on Wednesday on the South pole of the moon, an elated Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a busy time responding to the flood of congratulatory messages from leaders across the globe.
Among the first to congratulate India for his historic achievement of being the first to land on the South Pole of the moon was UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Sheikh Mohamed said that the moon landing was a significant leap for collective scientific progress.

In response PM Modi said: “I thank HH Sheikh @MohamedBinZayed for his wishes. This milestone is not just India’s pride but a beacon of human endeavour and perseverance. May our efforts in science and space pave the way for a brighter tomorrow for all,” PM Modi posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Responding to wishes by EU President, Ursula von der Leyen, PM Modi wrote: “Thank you @vonderleyen for the kind words. India will continue to explore, learn and share for the betterment of all humankind.”
The EU President wrote: “Congratulations to @narendramodi for the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3. A historic milestone and proud moment for the Indian people. India has become a true pioneer in space exploration. This Indian success will benefit researchers all over the world.”

Madagascar President on Wednesday wrote on X: “#Chandrayaan3 makes a historic landing on the Moon’s south pole! I would like to congratulate #India for such an incredible and emulating achievement. This success belongs to all of humanity, thank you @NarendraModi for your inspiring words and leadership. #IndiaOnTheMoon #BRICS.”

PM Modi personally thanked Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who had been invited to the BRICS summit in Johannesburg.
In a string of tweets, the Prime Minister also thanked South Asian leaders including Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Bhutan’s Prime Minister Lotay Tshering and Prime Minister of Maldives Ibrahim Solih.
The Nepalese PM had described the Chandrayan-3 mission as “ a historic achievement in science and space technology”.
