After a spate of Covid-19 positive cases, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to postpone the ongoing Pakistan Super League 6 with immediate effect. The board said that it took the decision following a virtual meeting with the team owners today after seven cases were reported in the competition, which had started on February 20.

The PCB said health and wellbeing of all participants remains paramount and, as an immediate step, it will focus on the safe and secure passage of all players, including repeat PCR tests, vaccines and isolation facilities to the six participating sides.

PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan will hold a media conference at Karachi's National Stadium later today to provide further updates.

Earlier in the day, the cricket board had announced to offer SARS-Coronavirus Vaccine doses to all participants, becoming the first cricket board to use the vaccine that produces protection against the Covid-19 virus.

The decision was made to ensure all participants of the league remain safe and healthy during the event, which was supposed to conclude on March 22.

“The players and officials will be under no obligation to have the vaccine. The vaccinations will be administered on Thursday morning by qualified health workers, strictly in line with government protocols," said PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan.
