Oman declares two-day national holiday as cyclone Shaheen makes landfall

As tropical storm Shaheen makes landfall, Oman has declared Sunday and Monday as national holidays to "safeguard the interest" of all. </p>
<p>
According to The National, Omanis said strong winds were lashing trees and making it difficult to drive, with visibility severely reduced on the roads.</p>
<p>
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said the storm was gathering speed and was making landfall in the eastern region and other areas of Oman.</p>

The two-day holiday has been announced to safeguard the interest of all and the Civil Aviation Authority is advising everybody to take precautions in the next two days and stay indoors unless it is important to go out,” a <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/gulf-news/oman/2021/10/02/oman-declares-two-day-national-holiday-as-cyclone-shaheen-makes-landfall/">broadcast </a>from Oman TV said.</p>
<p>
The private sector business owners were advised to keep their employees working in the above-mentioned days, if deemed necessary to continue work during this holiday.</p>
<p>
Due to the adverse climate conditions being witnessed by the Sultanate and, in coordination with the National Committee for Emergency Management (NCEM) and to ensure safety of public and private employees, it was decided that Sunday and Monday, 3 and 4 October 2021 will be an official holiday for employees of the departments of the state administrative apparatus, other legal entities and private sector's establishments, except the Governorates of Dhofar and Al Wusta, <a href="https://timesofoman.com/article/107442-cyclone-shaheen-two-days-holiday-declared-in-oman">said </a>the Times of Oman.</p>
