‘No good terrorists, no bad terrorists’, says India at 9/11 memorial

India, on Monday, said that the "heinous assault" of the 9/11 terror attacks must not be forgotten because terror in all its forms is condemnable. India paid tributes to victims of the September 11 terror attacks at a memorial ceremony organised by the UN on the eve of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.<br />

Reenat Sandhu, Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs paid a floral tribute at the 9/11 memorial pools where the North and South Towers of the iconic twin towers existed before hijackers flew planes into them in 2001.</p>

The names of the 2,983 people from over 90 countries, including India, who were killed in the 2001 and 1993 terror attacks are inscribed at the memorial. Prime Minister Narendra Modi too had paid homage at the 9/11 memorial in September 2014, placing five rose buds where names of the victims are etched.<br />

India's Permanent Representative to the UN, S Tirumurti said in a tweet: "A moving experience at Ground Zero in New York on 20thAnniversary of 9/11 Terror attack. UNSC paid homage at @Sept11Memorial to lives lost, including many Indians. There are no 'your terrorists' & 'my terrorists' or 'bad terrorists' & 'good terrorists'. Must fight it together."<br />
<br />
The UN also said: "Through this event, the United Nations reaffirmed its commitment to support all victims of terrorism around the world, and to work together to uphold their rights and needs".</p>
