Nepal PM Oli says all problems with India have been resolved

In a twist of tales, Nepal Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli has said that problems with India have been resolved. According to reports, Oli in an interview to BBC said that it is “not necessary to politicize” the issue of Covid 19 vaccine and the country the jab came from.

He added that while India gave 2.1 million vaccines to Nepal, China gave 1.8 million.

“Whoever provides us vaccines, be it India, China, the United States or the UK, it is fine to receive the vaccines. It is not necessary to politicise it and we thank both our neighbours very much,” he said in the interview, Times of India reported.

“Yes there were misunderstandings at one time but now those misunderstandings are gone. We should not be stuck in past misunderstandings but move forward looking at the future,” he said. Oli also said that it is natural for neighbours to have problems.

“Neighbours share both love and problems. Don’t people in Chile and Argentina have a problem?” Oli has been quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, Oli last week, in a massive Cabinet reshuffle, inducted 12 new faces.

Of the 12 new ministers, 10 belong to the Terai-based Janata Samajbadi Party, which was formed after the merger of two key Madhesi parties– Samajwadi Party-Nepal and Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal. He is now aided by three deputy Prime Ministers.

The Observer Research Foundation in one of its latest studies said that India and other neighbours of Nepal must step up assistance to the country amid the political instability and a severe Covid 19 wave.

“This adverse situation calls for an urgent attention from its friendly neighbours, India and other countries, that can respond positively at this critical point in time,” the study said.
