Nearly four lakh people to benefit as India supplies and installs 1500 hand pumps in Cambodia

In yet another exercise depicting strong bilateral development cooperation between India and Cambodia, New Delhi today completed the supply and installation of 1500 hand pumps to Phnom Penh which would provide safe drinking water to the country's rural population.

The implementation of the project was financed by the Indian government through a 100 per cent grant. This entailed supply and installation of 1500 hand pumps in two provinces of Cambodia – Tboung Khmum and Banteay MeanChey. A rural population of nearly 4,00,000 in 433 villages is benefited by this project and has led to an increase in population coverage with safe drinking water from 27 per cent to 40 per cent.
