<strong>India and Japan will further strengthen their Special Strategic and Global Partnership with the Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida expected to announce an investment of 5 trillion yen ($42 billion) in India over the next five years when he meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, later today.</strong></p>

Kishida will be beginning a two-day visit to India Saturday afternoon, his first after becoming Japan&#39;s 100th Prime Minister in October last year.<br />

Both PM Modi and his Japanese counterpart are expected to review and strengthen the bilateral cooperation in diverse areas, as well as exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, during the 14th India-Japan Annual Summit today.<br />
<br />
According to a report, Kishida could also agree to a 300 billion yen loan during his meeting with PM Modi besides signing various bilateral agreements.<br />
<br />
&quot;The 5 trillion yen goal tops the 3.5 trillion yen in investment and financing over five years that the then Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced during his 2014 visit to India,&quot; <a href="https://asia.nikkei.com/Politics/International-relations/Indo-Pacific/Japan-to-offer-India-42bn-in-investments-during-Kishida-s-visit">reported</a> Nikkei Asia.<br />
<br />
New Delhi and Tokyo are partners in many ongoing projects in various areas including connectivity, hydropower, forest management, water supply and sewerage, skill development, etc.<br />
<br />
The Summit will also provide an opportunity for both sides to advance their partnership for peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.</p>
