The dreaded terror group, Daesh or Islamic State (ISIS-K) has mounted yet another stunning attack in Pakistan. After a deadly suicide bombing attack in a mosque in Peshawar, the terrorist group claimed responsibility for another strike—this time on a security convoy of the Pakistani President Arif Alvi in southwestern Pakistan on Tuesday. According to the media reports, the explosion in Sibi, in Balochistan province was caused by a roadside bomb. But in a post on social media, ISIS-K claimed responsibility by saying that its suicide bomber has killed more than 30 Pakistani security personnel.

“The suicide bomber was a Pakistani national named Abdul Rahman Pakistani who detonated his explosive vest among Pakistani security forces and 30 and wounded many security men,” says Amaq news, a propaganda wing of the militant group.

According to the local media of Balochistan, the bombing happened near an open area where the Sibi annual mela (fair) was being held. The Pakistani President Arif Alvi attended the festival. The targeted convoy was part of the security deployment surrounding Alvi's visit. The bombing took place 25 minutes after President Alvi crossed the spot.

“The targeted convoy was part of the security deployment of the Pakistani president”, one local police officer told the media.

It was the second attack in less than week by a suicide bomber of ISIS-K targeted a Shiite mosque during Friday prayers in Peshawar, killing 63 worshippers and wounding nearly 200. The Islamic State, a Sunni hardcore terrorist group that considers Shias heretics, has claimed several previous attacks in Pakistan. But the mosque bombing was the biggest and deadliest yet.
