India flags danger of North Korea missile technology being passed on to Pakistan

India has voiced its concern about the recent ballistic missile launches by North Korea and flagged the danger of technology being transferred to Pakistan which would have an adverse impact on peace and security in the entire region.

Addressing a United Nations Security Council Open Meeting on recent missile launches by DPRK (North Korea), India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ruchira Kamboj stated that India calls for full implementation of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions relating to North Korea.

“We express concern at recent ballistic missile launches by the DPRK. We have noted reports of yet another launch of an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile by the DPRK on 2 November. These follow other launches last month following which the Security Council had met,” Kamboj said in her statement.

These launches, she said, constitute a violation of the resolutions of the Security Council relating to the DPRK and affect the peace and security of the region and beyond.

In a veiled reference to the transfer of missile technology by North Korea to Pakistan, Kamboj said that, “At the same time, we would like to reiterate the importance of addressing the proliferation of nuclear and missile technologies related to DPRK in our region. Proliferation of nuclear and missile technologies is a matter of concern, and they have an adverse impact on peace and security in the region, including on India”.
