India delivers 13th batch of medical assistance to Afghanistan

India has delivered the 13th batch of medical assistance to Afghanistan which was handed over to authorities of the Indira Gandhi Children’s Hospital in Kabul on Tuesday.

In continuation with its special relationship with the people of Afghanistan – and in view of the urgent appeals made by the United Nations to assist the Afghan people – India has till now supplied almost 45 tonnes of medical assistance to the war-torn country.

This includes essential life-saving medicines, anti-TB medicines, 500,000 doses of Covid vaccine, and medical and surgical items. In addition, India has also supplied 40,000 metric tonnes of wheat to the Afghan people.

The latest medical assistance consists of essential medicines and medical/surgical items like a pediatric stethoscope, sphygmomanometer mobile type with pediatric BP cuff, infusion pump, drip chamber set, electrocautery, nylon sutures, etc.


New Delhi has maintained that it has historical and civilisational ties with the Afghan people and these longstanding linkages will continue to guide its approach.

India’s development and humanitarian assistance have also received widespread appreciation across the entire spectrum of Afghan society.
