The meeting came just a few days after US Vice President Kamala Harris spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the Covid-19 situation in India and the supply of vaccines.

The coronavirus second wave in India has led to a massive shortage of vaccines in the country. India has been making strenuous efforts to improve the supply of vaccines through enhanced production in the country and through imports.

India is also talking with the Biden administration to ensure that there is a continuous and uninterrupted supply of components for vaccine manufacturing from the US.
