Dubai-bound Spicejet flight makes emergency landing at Karachi due to technical snag

A SpiceJet plane flying from Delhi to Dubai had to be diverted to Karachi in Pakistan today as the indicator light of the aircraft malfunctioned.

The plane landed in Karachi and the passengers were safely deboarded, the airline said.

"On July 5, 2022, SpiceJet B737 aircraft operating flight SG-11 (Delhi – Dubai) was diverted to Karachi due to an indicator light malfunctioning. The aircraft landed safely at Karachi and passengers were safely disembarked. No emergency was declared and the aircraft made a normal landing. There was no earlier report of any malfunction with the aircraft. Passengers have been served refreshments. A replacement aircraft is being sent to Karachi that will take the passengers to Dubai," the airline's spokesperson has said.

The incident comes merely three days after a SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Jabalpur was forced to return back to the Delhi airport after the crew noticed smoke in the cabin as the plane rose to an altitude of 5000 ft. The pilot of the plane made a 'May Day' distress call and returned to Delhi.

This was the second such incident involving a Delhi-Jabalpur flight this month. Earlier on June 19, also a Jabalpur-bound SpiceJet flight was forced to return back at the Delhi Airport after attaining a height of 6,000 ft.
