Bilawal Bhutto sworn in as foreign minister of Pakistan after meeting Nawaz Sharif in London

Scion of the Bhutto family, 33-year-old Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has become the youngest foreign minister of Pakistan as he took oath as a federal minister on Wednesday, after returning from London where he held several rounds of talks with the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) supremo and three times prime minister Nawaz Sharif.</p>
<p>
Bilawal did not take oath last week with the other members and there were reports about his reservations about the coalition government. He left for London to meet PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif to sort out their differences.</p>

The President of Pakistan Arif Alvi who had refused to administer oath to the new government led by prime minister Shehbaz Sharif, was there to administer oath to Bilawal Bhutto signalling the reconciliation with the coalition ruling party.</p>

The Oxford-educated Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is the son of former premier Benazir Bhutto and ex-Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari.</p>
<p>
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is the third generation minister of the Bhutto family. His maternal grandfather Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and mother Benazir Bhutto had served as prime ministers of Pakistan. The chairman of Pakistan People’s party Bilwal is the second one in his family to serve as foreign minister after his maternal grandfather and former premier Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.</p>

On Tuesday Bilawal told the media in London that the party had decided to assume its share of the responsibility and "tomorrow I will take an oath as a federal minister and become part of the unity government myself."</p>

Explaining his decision to join PM Shehbaz's cabinet, Bilawal said "one-sided decision making" was not possible and it was up to all the political parties to find solutions to the problems collectively.</p>
<p>
Earlier there were some thinking in his party that Bhutto should not join the government as foreign minister because it was below his stature. But on the other hand, some “seasoned” politicians had the view that for 33-year-old Bilawal, it will be a great experience to serve as foreign minister in the changing global scenario. </p>
