<strong>The Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi today celebrated the 102nd birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and also the National Children&#39;s Day with a resolve to work for realising &#39;Father of the Nation&#39;s&#39; dream of building &#39;Sonar Bangla&#39;.</strong></p>

High Commissioner Muhammad Imran hoisted the national flag at chancery premises and also placed a floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu along with the members of the mission, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha and Bangladesh Biman of Delhi station.<br />

It was followed by reading out of messages from Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister A K Abdul Momen and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam.<br />

The Deputy High Commissioner of the Bangladesh mission in New Delhi, Nural Islam and Rashedul Amin, Counsellor (Economic) read out the messages while Defence Adviser, Brigadier General Abul Kalam Azad also took part in a discussion on Banglabandhu.<br />
<br />
While presiding over the meeting, the High Commissioner said that so many nations in the world could not achieve independence only because they were not blessed with a leader like Bangabandhu.</p>

In his speech, he also urged the new generation to know about life, work and values of Bangabandhu so that they can build a prosperous Bangladesh. &nbsp;<br />

A documentary &#39;Bangabandhu &ndash; Forever in our Hearts&#39; was also screened on the life and achievements of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.<br />
<br />
A special &lsquo;munajat&rsquo; (prayer) was offered seeking divine blessings for Bangabandhu and those were brutally killed on the fateful night of August 15, 1975.<br />
<br />
Children of the mission also took part in a painting and essay writing competition besides participating in a cultural programme and also a cake-cutting ceremony in a tribute to Bangabandhu.</p>
