AR Rahman to enthral Bangladesh in a concert celebrating Mujib’s birth centenary

<p>
<strong>Finally, the much and eagerly awaited A.R. Rahman's concert is all set to take place in neighbouring Bangladesh’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka today.</strong></p>
<p>
It may be recalled that the event “Cricket Celebrates Mujib 100” which was scheduled two years ago had to be postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic waves. The concert is being held to mark the birth centenary of Bangladesh’s Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and is organised by the Bangladesh Cricket Board.</p>

Sheikh Hasina, the Bangladesh Prime Minister is scheduled to attend the programme which will see performances by Bangladesh artist Momtaz Begum and the popular band Miles. The Oscar-winning and popular composer, Rahman, is expected to perform for three hours and sing about 35 songs, which will include two songs about Bangabandhu – one in Hindi and the other in Bangla, according to the BCB director Ismail Haider Mallick.</p>

The concert is expected to commence at 5 p.m. while the PM is scheduled to attend at 6.30 p.m.</p>

Rahman reached Dhaka on Sunday night with a group of 240 people.</p>
<p>
The BCB had also planned two T20 matches between Asia XI and World XI with star cricketers like Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, KL Rahul, Chris Gayle giving their consent to play but due to the pandemic these were cancelled. The Board is hoping to arrange these matches some time in future.</p>
