The Anti-Taliban National Resistance Front (NRF) of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan opened its office in Dushanbe in Tajikistan. According a report of Tajik daily Asia-Plus says quoting the Director of the Analytical Center at the Russian Political Scientists’ Society, Andrey Serenko, Ahmad Massoud and Amrullah Saleh, the former Vice-President and self-declared acting president, “has opened its official representation in Tajikistan (Dushanbe).” Both the leaders are in Dushanbe under the protection of Tajikistan.

The NRF is also set to open its first international office in the US. With the permission of the US Justice Department already bagged, the NRF will open its office in Washington. Earlier the group had applied to the Justice Department to get itself registered as a non-profit organisation for "lobbying the government, international organizations and other political entities."

According to the US based spokesperson of the NRF, Ali Nazari, this is a very major achievement of the group as such a license is rarely issued for political-military fronts.

“National Resistance Front seeks to be the protector of America's 20-year investment in Afghanistan and the force to rid the country of intolerance and terrorism,” Nazari said in his tweet.

Six weeks ago, Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the front and son of the legendary guerilla warrior, Ahmad Shah Massoud, had hired an American lobbyist firm to seek military and financial support in the US for a fight against the Taliban. Massoud said that the primary motivation for his lobbying campaign was to stop any move by the US and other governments to grant legitimacy to the Taliban government.

While the Afghan opposition groups have support from some Republicans in Washington, the Biden administration has made it clear that it has no interest in playing any further role in a civil war in Afghanistan.

The NRF resistance from the Panjshir valley had begun after the Taliban took over Kabul on August 15. But armed with active Pakistani support, the Taliban claimed complete control over Panjshir Province. However, Massoud had then stated that the resistance would continue and had called for a nationwide guerrilla war.
