Afghanistan’s National Resistance Front  (NRF), loyal to Ahmad Massoud, have formally launched their guerrilla resistance against the Taliban from the north-eastern province of  Badakhshan.

Afghanistan’s Aamaj News announced on Monday that the agency obtained video footage of NRF militants claiming their presence in Badakhshan.

"The video clip […] shows guerrilla fighters in the Badakhshan Province, whose leaders are pledging loyalty to the National Resistance Front and its leader Ahmad Massoud, while declaring a guerrilla war against the Taliban," the report says.

The NRF resistance from the Panjshir valley, which had begun after the Taliban took over Kabul on August 15 rapidly fizzled out after Pakistan provided aerial support to the Taliban.

On September 6, the Taliban claimed complete control over Panjshir Province. However, Massoud had then stated that the resistance would continue and had called for a nationwide guerrilla war.
