Under the Radar E2- The India-China tussle for the soul of Buddhism

In our 2nd episode of Under The Radar, we look at an event of not just geo-political but also of geo-cultural significance. Specifically , we analyse the fierce, but less obvious, geo-cultural competition between India and China on the “ownership of Buddhism”.

To elaborate on this theme we cover the international conference on Vajrarayana Buddhism held in Thimpu in the first week of October. This conference , almost completely missed out by the mainstream media, amplifies the broader context of the sustained soft-power conflict between India and China –two civilizational states that aspire to redefine the world order.

Our host Atul Aneja takes you through the historical details of this geo-cultural tussle, while analysing the significance of the Thimpu conference to the broader Indo-Pacific region.
