Samuel Paty: A tribute by France

In a show of strength, the Montpellier government recently broadcasted on their official building the cartoons of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in the aftermath of the beheading of French teacher Samuel Paty. The projection showed various covers by the magazine which criticised the rise of radical Islamists in the country and also depicted the cartoon of the Prophet Mohammad which had led to the murders of 12 Charlie Hebdo staff members in January 2015. Samuel Paty was murdered by an Islamist for discussing freedom of expression by using the same cartoons of Charlie Hebdo on the anniversary week of the gruesome attack on the magazine.
