Meet Akhone Asgar Ali Basharat Balti Language Promoter & Famous Poet
Born in 1957 in Ladakh, Akhone Asgar Ali Basharat completed his early studies in Persian and Arabic language, but his interest towards his mother tongue made him a famous poet and a teacher of the Balti language. Basarat started promoting the Balti language in 1999 first through All India Radio Kargil. He made several shows and programs in the Balti language. Balti language is Tibet’s ethnic language mainly spoken by Balti people living in areas of Ladakh and Gilgit Baltistan. In 2022 he was conferred with Padma Shri by the government of India
