The newly constructed Diamond Bourse in Surat is larger than United States’ defence headquarters Pentagon which is renowned as the world’s largest office. 15-story Surat Diamond Bourse houses have been built at a cost of around Rs 3,200 crore with 4,500 offices for national and international traders which can also serve as small diamond-cutting and polishing workshops. The bourse can accommodate 65,000 diamond professionals at a time bringing cutters, polishers, and traders under a single roof for the first time. The building is expected to be functional by November 2023 and will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
