Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO launched the sounding rocket RH-560 on Friday. It studies attitudinal variations in the neutral winds and plasma dynamics. It was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Sriharikota Range. Sounding rockets are one or two-stage solid propellant rockets. They probe the upper atmospheric regions and are used for space research. They are affordable platforms to test or prove prototypes of new components or subsystems for launch vehicles and satellites. ISRO started launching indigenously made sounding rockets from 1965. ISRO today masters in solid propellant technology.
