India Developing State-of-the-Art DURGA II Laser Weapon | India Armed Forces

DRDO is known for building Light Combat Aircraft Tejas, the Arjun tank and missiles like the Agni series. However, not many know that DRDO works on cutting-edge technologies like in the field of 'directed-energy weapons' (DEW). A directed-energy weapon is a weapon that damages or destroys its target using focussed energy by means of lasers, microwaves or particle beams. They are known to have several advantages as compared to regular ammunitions. As per US Defense News, the classified project dubbed DURGA II (Directionally Unrestricted Ray-Gun Array) will see the Indian Army receive the 100-kilowatt, lightweight directed-energy system. DURGA II program is currently in the concept stage. DURGA II is to be integrated with land- sea- and air-based platforms. Watch, to know more!
