Even after the World Health Organisation issued a statement to call the COVID-19 variants with its scientific names, there are many national and international mainstream media still using geographic locations to label new variant B1.617.1 coronavirus as ‘Indian Variant’. It seems their purpose is to malign India but will not even call the first virus – coronavirus/COVID-19- as ‘Chinese virus’ or 'Wuhan virus'.
