The Calcutta Madrasah or Aliah Madrasah should not need any introduction in India. It is the oldest one. It is now part of Aliah University. It serves as the Theology Department of the varsity. Anas Mohammed of India Narrative visited it recently to check how the madrasa has caught up with modernity. He interviewed two teachers: Mehmoodur Rehman Qasmi and Mufti Liaqat Ali (he is also the son-in-law of West Bengal Mass Education Extension & Library Services, Siddiqullah Chowdhury.
