Tata Motors sets up first eco-friendly vehicle scrapping facility in Odisha

Odisha got its first registered vehicle scrapping facility in Khurda district of the State. The facility started by Tata Motors has been aptly named as “Re.Wi.Re. – Recycle With Respect”.

The state-of-the-art facility in Khurda’s Pitapalli has environmentally-friendly processes and it has the capacity to disassemble 10,000 vehicles safely and sustainably each year. The RVSF has been developed and will be operated by Tata Motors’ partner M/s. Empreo Premium Private Limited to scrap end-of-life passenger and commercial vehicles of all brands.

The fully digital facility has dedicated stations for safe dismantling of various components including tyres, batteries, fuel, oils, liquids and gases. Here each and every vehicle will undergo a meticulous documentation and dismantling process specifically designed to meet the requirements of passenger and commercial vehicles. The detailing of the dismantling process will ensure safe disposal of all components.

With the focus on employing environmentally-friendly practices, all operations at the facilities are seamless and paperless.

The facility was inaugurated by Tukuni Sahu, Minister for Commerce and Transport. Speaking on the occasion she said that the facility marks a significant milestone in the State’s efforts towards sustainable development in Odisha. “With the inauguration of this new scrappage facility, we take a crucial step towards reducing the environmental impact of our transportation sector. This facility not only provides a convenient and safe way to dispose of old vehicles but also promotes the adoption of cleaner and more efficient modes of transportation.”

Earlier Tata Motors had inaugurated an RVSF in Rajasthan’s Jaipur.
