On this day in 1962, China attacked forward positions along Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh. An unprovoked attack, it tarnished the so-called 'Hindi-Chini bhai bhai' sentiment. A resultant loss forced the political and military leadership to overhaul the armed forces preparedness on munitions, clothing and logistics. Today, India is well placed with a stronger and modern military. It was proven in the aftermath of the deadly Galwan Valley clash, when mainly Tibetan troops of the Indian Army, captured strategic heights well within the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Along with this the army has even sent the T90 Bhishma which is no match for the Chinese light armoured tanks. The lesson learnt during the 1962 war cannot be forgotten by India, but in their arrogance, China is unable to see the actual strength of India's troops.
