Victimized for decades, the people of Balochistan province in Pakistan have stepped up their protest against the Imran Khan government’s latest move to fence the port city of Gwadar in the name of security. Human Rights in Pakistan and China are regressing by the day. Besides citizen targeted terror attacks stemming from racially or politically motivated conflicts in Pakistan, human rights violation of Pashtuns in FATA Region, Shias in Gilgit Baltistan and Balochs in Balochistan are progressing towards genocide of these minorities. Pakistan has received immense international condemnation. Apart from economical violation of the ethnic people in Gilgit Baltistan, due to the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), this joint project of Pakistan and China will bring the regional people under a ‘double colonial rule. The future of minorities hangs by the thread in the hands of Pakistan and China, two nations known for Human Rights Violations of Minorities.


Pakistan, a country not new to Human Rights Violations, as per a recent tweet in September by a Ladakh Member of Parliament Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, is planning to begin the most brutal genocide and ethnic cleansing in the Gilgit-Baltistan region. The atrocities on the Shia population in the region continue. Once a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multicultural region, Gilgit Baltistan saw a fall in Shia population from 80% to 39%. The Pakistani military has been running pogroms against the Shia population for the past 7 decades. Till date, more than 3000 Shias have been massacred by state sponsored Sunni extremists in Gilgit-Baltistan.
