Check-in at Delhi Airport turns paperless and contactless with DigiYatra

Aiming to make boarding a flight comfortable and hassle-free, the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has launched a beta version of DigiYatra app. This app which is on the Android platform enables flyers to avail quicker check-in at the Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The DigiYatra allows the passenger to go through different checkpoints at the airport by using a process which is contactless as well as paperless. The person’s facial features are used to establish the identity which is linked to the boarding pass.

In their Press statement, DIAL said: “DIAL had installed the required facility at Terminal 3 of Delhi Airport and already conducted its DigiYatra trials. Nearly 20,000 passengers had the seamless and secured travel experience after using the facility during the trials.”

The 20,000 passengers who availed of this facility had submitted their biometric and other details through kiosks at Terminal 3 for their specific flights.

This app now will allow passengers to submit their biometrics and other details and it will remain permanently stored for all flights which they will take at the Terminal 3 airport. This means that a passenger is not required to submit the biometric details at Terminal 3 before each flight.

At present DigiYatra app’s beta version is available on the Andriod platform and in a few weeks, it will be available on the IOS platform.

The passenger after downloading the app will have to register his or her phone number and Aadhar card details. Then, they will have to take a selfie, add vaccination details and scan the boarding pass.
