Tax dept to dispose off pending files as Clean India programme takes root

As part of a unique campaign –‘A Clean India’, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), which launched the Special Campaign on Disposal of Pending Matters (SCDPM) 3.0, has identified as many as files pertaining to 933 public grievances along with 357 public grievance appeals for disposal during the campaign. That apart 31 VIP references have been identified as well for disposal.

The SCDPM was launched on September 15 with the aim to institutionalise Swachhata (cleanliness) and minimise pendency of work.

A nation-wide cleanliness drive is also planned across all field offices of CBIC. Until now 1,038 sites have already been identified for conducting cleanliness campaigns during the campaign period. Further, around 44,000 physical files and 23,000 e-files have been identified for review. Another identified area of focus is disposal of old/unused office equipment and scrap material and thus freeing up additional space. The additional space so created will be put up for productive use.

CBIC remains committed to ensuring cleanliness and enhancing the quality of public spaces maintained by it, a press statement issued by the government said.

The Swachh Bharat Mission was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 2 2014 across the country as a national movement.

The government had also launched the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) programme between September 15 and October 2 this year. Under this, a nationwide programme– Garbage Free India was observed. More than 32 crore citizens across the country joined the nationwide programme.
