A massive landslide blocked the Srinagar-Jammu national highway in Banihal district stranding hundreds of vehicles on Friday.
Videos show loose rocks and mud cascading down the hillside onto the highway below.
While construction work on broadening the highway is in full swing, the haphazard use of bulldozers in several areas is reported to have loosened the rocks and contributed to the landslides.
Another landslide on the same highway in Ramban district last night had swept away a portion of the road and left two injured.
