Watch: Doda bridge in Kashmir illuminated in tricolour before Republic Day

Ganpat bridge in district Doda of Jammu and Kashmir was also illuminated last year

Extensive preparations are underway throughout Jammu and Kashmir for the 2023 Republic Day celebrations next week with many buildings already illuminated in tricolour.

In Doda, once a hotbed for terrorism, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) has already directed to illuminate all the government offices across the district with tricolour lights.

In Srinagar on Wednesday, the Kashmir cultural unit department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) organised a patriotic song singing competition ‘Ae Watan Tere Liye’ at Pandit Bhajan Sopori Auditorium as part of Republic Day celebrations.

The aim of the programme was to demonstrate love for the country, enthuse the spirit of patriotism and highlight history and promote ideals.

Students from the different government, as well as private schools and colleges of Srinagar including Amar Singh College Srinagar, Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kothibagh, JK Police Public School Bemina, Institute of Music & Fine Arts (KU), Green Valley Educational Institute, Government College for Women Nawakadal and Government Degree College Kangan, participated in the competition.

The young participants were enthusiastic and eager to showcase their talent and their songs invoked a strong sense of patriotism in each one who witnessed.

The competition was judged by renowned artists, Ustaad Shabir Ahmed Saznawaz, Munir Ahmad Mir and Aijaz Sahir.

“We discovered potential talent in singing from amongst our students and are very optimistic that these students will bring glory to the nation in future,” said Burhan Hussain, Cultural Officer, Kashmir.
