Jammu and Kashmir draws tourists in droves to watch snow and now it has another novel offering for them, the world’s largest igloo café in the famous ski resort Gulmarg.
Claimed to be the world's largest, it has become a centre of attraction for tourists and boasts of a height of 37.5 feet and a diameter of 44.5 feet. According to Syed Wasim Shah its creator this makes it the world's largest igloo cafe.
Talking to the media, Shah said: "I saw this concept in Switzerland a few years back where they have such hotels, which are equipped with sleeping facilities as well. I thought Gulmarg sees a lot of snow and why not start this concept here.”

Last year too he said he had created an igloo cafe and claimed it was Asia's biggest. "This year, I made the world's highest and its height is 37.5 feet and its diameter is 44.5 feet.”
This according to him makes it the biggest igloo café since Guinness Book of World Records states the one in Switzerland has a height of 33.8 feet and diameter 42.4 feet.

Last year the café housed four tables and a maximum of 16 people could eat at a time. This year the number of tables has increased to 10 tables.
Sharing details Shah informed: "We have created it in two steps with a staircase. Forty people can eat at a time.
The igloo took 64 days to complete it with 25 people working day and night.
Shah is hopeful that the igloo with a thickness of five feet will stand till March 15.
