A massive fire has completely destroyed the Government Bone and Joint Hospital in Srinagar.

Over 200 patients and their attendants were evacuated amid the raging fire which blazed through the biggest orthopaedic hospital in Kashmir on Friday evening.

Heavy explosions of gas cylinders and medical equipment rent the air amidst the raging fire.

The hospital has 250 beds and all wards were full of patients and attendants when fire started in the three-story building.

The fire was first noticed at the Emergency Theatre and it quickly spread  across the entire hospital. The cause of the fire was not known immediately, officials said.

"There is no loss of life. All patients have been evacuated safely," said Aijaz Asad, Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar.
